Mark Bourassa is Professor in Meteorology at the Florida State University (FSU) and a member of FSU's Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies (COAPS) and FSU's Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Institute (GFDI). His expertise is in air-sea interaction, satellite observation of the atmosphere and ocean, tropical meteorology, and boundary layer meteorology. He serves as the team leader for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Ocean Vector Winds Science Team, and participates in several international ocean surface winds groups. He co-chaired the USCLIVAR Working Group on High-Latitude Surface Fluxes, is a member of the SeaFlux working group, and participates is several other surface flux programs (e.g.,NASA NEWS and SAMOS). He also works on climate-related professional development of middle school teachers. He combines his interests in air/sea interaction and remote sensing to better understand and apply the physics coupling the ocean and the atmosphere.
