Satellite Sensor Calibration Scientist – College Park, MD
Will support NOAA JPSS Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) Calibration and Validation. ATMS operates in conjunction with the CrIS to profile atmospheric temperature and moisture. Higher (spatial, temporal and spectral) resolution and more accurate sounding data from CrIS and ATMS support continuing advances in data assimilation systems and Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models to improve short- to medium-range weather forecasts. The selected candidate will develop limb correction techniques to produce ATMS TOR products into imaging products for NWS applications and deliver ATMS TOR limb corrected imagery products at various resolutions.
3+ years of working experience in microwave instrument calibration/validation. Experience with FORTRAN, C/C++, IDL, Python, Perl, and JAVA in a Unix/Linux environment.
