For the second year in a row Kirsten M. Chaney has won the Best Overall Physical Science Poster Award at the FSU Women in Math, Science, and Engineering (WIMSE) Research Symposium held on April 7, 2015. The title of her poster was “Improvements in Numerical Model Predictions of Atlantic Hurricane Edouard of 2014 Using Data Assimilation of NASA Unmanned Aircraft Dropwindsonde Observations.”
As with her first poster award in 2014, Kirsten's research was directed by Dr. Robert S. Ross, Research Associate in Dr. T. N. Krishnamurti's Numerical Weather Prediction Laboratory.
A former undergrad, Jeff Williams, worked with Dr. Munir Humayun to coauthor a study on the formation of Mars’ mantle that appeared in April in Meteoritics and Planetary Sciences. The article was featured on the website Planetary Research Science Research Discoveries in an article the link for which is: http://www.psrd.hawaii.edu/CosmoSparks/May15/HSE-highPT.html.
